Field trip to City of Onkaparinga

This semester students of LARCH7031:Extreme Territories had the opportunity to visit City of Onkaparinga and learn first-hand of the geo-morphological conditions, issues and limitations of the study area. These will be the main focus of their 'dynamic' analysis and territorial interventions. Innovative tools such as 'Real-time LiDAR analysis and visualisation', panoramic and video/photo recording were implemented to allow students affected by travel restrictions due to COVID-19 to join our in-situ activities in a remote mode.

Due to the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation, from next week we will progressively moved into a full online studio and it is uncertain when our face-to-face activities will resume. This changes will be challenging and rewarding at same time #StayatHome #FightingCOVID19 #LARCH7031 #HealthcomesFirst #UoA #StrongStudentCommunity

These are some examples of real-time LiDAR analysis y visualisations employed as a pedagogical tool in this course to facilitate a better understanding of the geo-morphological conditions of the site and as means to engage with remote students.

Many thanks to the team of teaching assistants of LARCH7031: Janelle Arbon, Juliana Croffi, Matthew Hawker, Kar Gan, Victor Calixto and Rasoul Rafat (special acknowledgements for the incredible shots!), as well as Paul Harding from City of Onkaparinga Council.

LiDAR data was kindly provided by Aerometrex (Many thanks to Fabrice Marre) for educational purposes.
